Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) celebrates its 80th birthday by commemorating the day one of its founders, Bob Smith, an American doctor, took his last drink.

Mutual support is the essence of the worldwide Alcoholics Anonymous community.  A.A. has over two million active members and offers a program of alcoholism recovery known as the "12-Step Program."
